Finance & Budget

You will be strategically leading the Council’s finances, including support to our trading companies, investment strategy and capital programmes, corporate finance and exchequer services. Working with a range of local and national partners, you will deliver innovative, effective and efficient services to the Council and our service users.  You will deputise for the S151 Officer and lead all day to day financial management across the Council; ensuring finances remain robust and well managed. As the finance expert, you will provide high level advice, guidance and challenge to the Council’s senior leadership team and Members in order to deliver corporate outcomes.

The successful candidate will need to be a qualified member of one of the CCAB accountancy bodies.  You will need to demonstrate significant experience of leading the finance function for an organisation of comparable scope and complexity, successfully managing large budgets and competing priorities, while working as a member of the leadership team.  You will be able to demonstrate an up to date knowledge and understanding of the law, regulation, government policy and best practice in relation to the functions provided within the service.
